Art tool designed to allow artists to paint directly on 3D models in high resolution

3D digital painting tool Mari comes to Mac

3D digital painting tool Mari 2.5 is now available for developers on Mac.

The tool is designed to allow artists to paint straight onto 3D models using high resolution textures and “millions” of polygons.

“We announced that Mari would be coming to the Mac at WWDC 2013 earlier this year, and are excited to be releasing it to the market today,” said The Foundry Mari product manager Jack Greasley.

“Mari is such a powerful and artist-friendly application. We know Mari is a great fit for the Mac and can’t wait to see what users can do with this truly amazing tool on Apple’s hardware.”

Earlier this year The Foundry released Mari 2, which introduced a new artist-focused layer system, which the company said would be a familiar environment for Adobe Photoshop users.
