$600,000 made in Wasteland 2 Kickstarter craze

Amid a croudfunding buzz sweeping the games industry, California studio inXile Entertainment has made nearly $600,000 in twenty-four dramatic hours on Kickstarter.

The studio, which is seeking $900,000 before April 17th, launched its Kickstarter campaign yesterday to develop a sequel to its post-apocalyptic RPG Wasteland.

The first game, released in 1988, is said to be “an inspiration for the Fallout series of games”.

At the time of going to press, the project has reached $590,000 by more than 10,000 backers. Thirty-three days remain for the full $900,000 to be met.

The studio has already published a roadmap for how it will use additional funds.

A $1 minimum pledge is required from backers. Those who put $10 forward will receive a DRM-free digital edition of the game, with reward tiers scaling upwards accordingly.

Those who pledge $10,000 will, among other bonuses, be given a shrine in the Wasteland 2 game world.
