Bungie's online shooter won't make release date revealed in Activision court documents

Activision: Destiny will not launch in 2013

Activision has released a statement saying that Bungie’s "shared-world shooter" Destiny will not be released in 2013.

When the publisher went public with the game speculation went rampant about a possible release date, often citing the court documents from the West-Zampella case that first revealed the existence of Destiny.

The filing said the game was to be released for Xbox 360 and Microsoft’s next generation console in 2013, with a PS3 release to follow in 2014.

Activision now says this information is invalid.

"Although Bungie’s amazing new world was revealed today, Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result," said the publisher today in a statement provided to Gamespot.

There is a good chance this means that platforms are being reconsidered as well, since it looks like Sony may beat out Microsoft with its next-generation console, but Activision has been tight-lipped on the subject.
