AIAS announces 2008 awards nominees

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has revealed the list of nominees for its annual awards ceremony, the Annual Interactive Achievement Awards.

Leading the pack at the awards, which takes place at DICE in February, is 2K Boston / 2K Australia’s Bioshock with 12 nominations. Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4 receives 10 nominations, Valve scores nine for The Orange Box, whilst Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin’s Creed both trail with six each.

The UK is represented by Ninja Theory, which gains nominations in the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition and Outstanding Character Performance categories, while the Racing Game of the Year is dominated by three UK developers – Evolution (Motorstorm), Bizarre Creations (PGR4) and Codemasters (DiRT).
