£20,000 worth of prizes available to entrants

Amateur artists competition to ‘uncover future stars’

A computer graphics competition for amateur artists is now taking submissions to “uncover the future stars of the CG industry”.

CG Whiz, run by Escape Studios, is to offer £20,000 worth of prizes to successful entrants.

Participants have to upload a show reel or set of stills compiled into a video on to Escape’s Facebook page.

The top prize for the ‘amateurs’ category is a 12-week visual effects course at Escape’s London or LA academies, followed by a similar placement at visual effects company The Mill.

The annual competition now features a new ‘young professional’ category, with the winner receiving a Zbrush for 3D artist online course, a HP laptop and a show reel review by the panel of judges.

Escape founder Dominic Davenport said: “We’re really excited about our search to find some of CG’s brightest talent and give aspiring artists the chance to break into the VFX industry.

“It is our mission to help anyone with a creative streak and a passion for computer graphics develop their skills and get them started on successful CG careers.”

CG Whiz is run by Escape Studios in partnership with The Mill, 3D Artist, Digital Artist, CGSociety, Autodesk and HP.

The closing date for entry is 12th November, with winners to be announced early December.
