Shanghai-based indie studio seeks $200k to complete free-to-play action RPG

American McGee heads to Kickstarter

The studio behind Alice: Madness Returns has launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $200,000 to complete its latest game – Akaneiro: Demon Hunters.

Spicy Horse was founded by American McGee, creator of Alice and Grimm, and is one of China’s leading independent studios.

The action RPG is already in an advanced stage of development with an open beta set for this month, and is currently sitting at #3 on Steam Greenlight.

Spicy Horse wants the additional funding in order to ship the game to iOS and Android and add new features like co-op multiplayer and crafting.

Linux support has been announced as the project’s first stretch goal.

The project has raised $35,000 with 26 days to go.
