Studio Wildcard's hit game has already made $10m in revenue

Ark: Survival Evolved sells 400,000 copies in first week

Hit Steam Early Access game Ark: Survival Evolved has sold more than 400,000 copies in just its first week on sale.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak said the game had already made more than $10m in revenue. The title is currently one of the most played on Steam, hitting a peak of 63,061 concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

The studio spent around $1.5m on developing Ark: Survival Evolved during the past seven months. Rapczak said that despite its quick success, it was too early to discuss profits since the game still has a long way to go to completion.

“80 per cent of the main game is done, with hundreds of hours of gameplay there already,” he said.

“It’s just down to balancing and feedback from the players. If all goes well we may even add more content once the community gets their hands on the mod tools. More on that later.”
