Bohemia Interactive developing new title with Dean Hall named as project lead

ArmA II mod DayZ becomes standalone game

The hugely popular ArmA II mod DayZ is to become its own standalone game.

The new project will be developed by Bohemia Interactive, with DayZ creator Dean Hall named as project lead.

The game will follow a similar development model to that of indie sensation Minecraft, with numerous iterations being made whilst users can gain early access to the Alpha version for a discounted price.

Hall said the deal was a “fairy-tale” outcome for the mod, which he would not have predicted four months ago.

Development will continue on DayZ in its current form, and will run in parallel to the new standalone version.
