Australian developer facing financial difficulties, says source

Auran facing cutbacks?

Website Angry Gamer is reporting that Australian independent developer Auran is having financial difficulties and will jettison many of its staff this week.

The company, which recently launched the MMO Fury and created the Battlestar Galactica game for Xbox Live Arcade, will allegedly lose many staff from its QA department, with marketing and key management staff remaining for the time being.

Angry Gamer’s anonymous source points to the failure of Fury as being a key reason behind the move. “Fury was a financial disaster, it lost Auran a lot of money,” the source is reported to have said.

Fellow Australian developer Tantalus, based in Melbourne, will apparently be taking up to 20 staff from Auran and will commence interviews next week.
