New scheme to be introduced over the next few weeks

Australia to introduce developer incentives

The federal government of Australia is to introduce new developer incentives to help spur on the country’s game industry.

As reported by MCV Pacific, the news was confirmed by Game Developers’ Association of Australia CEO Antony Reed confirmed the move, but was not able to share further details on the matter.

Developer incentives are expected to be available in the coming weeks.

The country’s budget for games has fallen to AUD$500,000 across two programs this year. Screen Development will offer studios AUD$30k-to-$90k, whilst Screen Marketing will offer AUD$25k.

As well as potential new developer incentives, funding has been re-instated in Victoria after the previous program for games was cut.
