Buyout to be completed on July 31st

Autodesk acquires production management firm Shotgun Software

Autodesk has made its latest acquisition in the games space by purchasing cloud-based production management firm Shotgun Software.

The company offers a cloud-based tool for production tracking and asset management. It is already integrated into Autodesk tools 3ds Max and Maya.

Despite the buyout, Shotgun will continue to operate under the same name. The purchase is expected to be completed on July 31st. Further terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed.

“Shotgun and Autodesk share a vision of an industry-wide, cloud-based production management system," said Shotgun CEO Don Parker.

“Autodesk’s broad global network and development resources will speed up the pace of innovation and development of our global platform. Together, we will extend our tools deeper into the production process, and develop new solutions that best support the studios of the future.”

Autodesk’s purchase of Shotgun Software comes shortly after the firm acquired the Bitsquid engine.
