Catan and Rise of Nations developer sees headcount slashed in THQ cutbacks

Big losses at Big Huge

Sources have told Develop that a huge amount of layoffs have hit THQ’s Big Huge Games studio.

Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Big Huge Games most recently made the Xbox Live Arcade title Catan, and was working with Elder Scrolls creator Ken Rolston on a ‘Big Huge RPG’.

Several weeks ago THQ announced that it had informed the staff of Big Huge Games that it would close the studio should it not be able to find a buyer.

"These actions were unfortunate but were necessitated by the difficult economic environment," the publisher said at the time
