Free-to-play giant 'attracting 250,000 new players a day'

Bigpoint surpasses 250 million registered users

Bigpoint has surpassed 250 million users for its browser-based online games, the company has claimed.

It also stated that it is attracting over 250,000 new registered users a day for its key free-to-play titles such as Battlestar Galactica Online and Dark Orbit.

“Since 2002, we’ve strived to bring high-quality games and experiences to the widest possible audience,” said Bipoint CEO Heiko Hubertz.

“With players hailing from every corner of the globe, today’s milestone underscores our success – and we’re not done. We’ll continue to challenge the notion of what online games are and can be.”

Bigpoint was originally founded in Germany, but has expanded across the globe since 2010 by moving to a new San Francisco office and also setting up operations in Brazil, London, France and Spain. The company stated it would be looking to expand even further during 2012.
