Zenimax also using middleware on unannounced title

BioWare chooses HeroEngine for Star Wars MMO

BioWare used Idea Fabrik’s development platform HeroEngine to help create its huge MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Fabrik said the SWTOR developer chose its engine because of its “integrated offering of development tools that provide live collaborative development and real-time updates”.

HeroEngine is a 3D game engine and server technology platform designed for creating MMO-style games.

SWTOR marks the first “major release” of a game built using the tool.

The middleware provider also revealed that Zenimax is using the engine as part of development on an as yet unannounced MMO.
