Now called Blitz Games Studios, with 11 games in the works across five divisions - Volatile, Arcade, Games, TruSim and BlitzTech

Blitz gets slight rename to reflect new structure

Big UK independent studio Blitz has tweaked its business name to closer reflect its divisional structure.

The studio formerly known as Blitz Games is now called Blitz Games Studios – ‘Blitz Games’ will now be used for the studio’s signature family a massmarket titles alongside divisions Volatile, for mature games, digitial distribution label Arcade, its serious games team TruSim and internal technology unit BlitzTech.

Blitz has also confirmed publicly for the first time that the latter – its proprietary in-house technology – is now available for licensing, although only to other select studios.

The studio is currently developing 11 titles across its divisions including two unannounced mature titles, three multiplatform licensed games, and a number of digital distribution games. It also has two major funding grants from the UK government and the EU for new serious titles.

Philip Oliver, co-founder and CEO of Blitz Games Studios said: "Some people still associate Blitz Games with family games only, although we’ve been working in different genres for years now! We’ve widened our horizons and grown substantially to over 230 people and this re-naming reflects that."

Blitz has also built a new corporate website – click here to see it.
