Support for platform to be taken over by non-profit foundation

Buffy and Firefly MMO dev closes

Online and virtual world solution provider Multiverse has ceased operations due to a lack of funding.

The studio, founded in 2004, create the Multiverse platform for developers to create cheap and “high quality” MMOs.

It has released games such as Battle and Team Battle on Facebook as well as working on MMOs based around Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly series.

The company also created promotion games for McDonalds and CocaCola to support the release of blockbuster movie Avatar in 2009.

In a statement on its website, the company said a group of individuals is in the process of creating a non-profit foundation on Source Forge to support developers who wish to continue using the Multiverse platform.
