Backend-as-a-service firm rebranded as GSN Games Barcelona

Casual publisher GSN Games purchases backend provider Gamedonia

Gamedonia, a company that provides backend services such as multiplayer frameworks, in-game chat and cross-platform support to devs, has been acquired.

The firm’s buyer is casual and casino label GSN Games, which has launched apps including bingo, slots and solitaire across browser and mobile, as well as more casual fare such as platformer Cordy 2.

Spain-based Gamedonia, which is home to eight devs, will be rechristened as GSN Games Barcelona, and will begin working with its sister studio in India to implement its services into the outlet’s games.

"GSN Games’ acquisition of Gamedonia aligns with our strategy of leveraging talented teams and advanced technologies to create best-in-class games that delight millions of players worldwide," said GSN COO Steve Brunell in a statement.

"We are pleased to welcome the Gamedonia team, and already are on our way to integrating their expertise in order to power rapid game development across the GSN Games organisation."
