CD Projekt Red posts open letter addressing employee morale

The developer of The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has addressed growing online concerns about the morale of its staff and its working environment.

Following recent reviews on anonymous employer rating website Glassdoor, concerns began to rise online. Comments such as "Give people who loves [sic] making and playing games, who pours their blood and soul into those project what they deserve" began to gain traction on forums amongst fans of the studio.

The company, which also owns retail site GOG.com, made the unusual approach of directly addressing the comments given that news on the development of its next game Cyberpunk 2077 has been rather quiet. In an open letter posted on Twitter, co-founder Marcin Iwinsku and studio head Adam Badowski discussed the approach the developer takes and the studio’s development ethos.

The developer admitted that its approach to developing games isn’t for everyone, saying: "It often requires a conscious effort to ‘reinvent the wheel’… We believe reinventing that wheel every friggin’ time is what makes a better game… and we think it’s worth your hard-earned cash. If you make games with a ‘a close enough is good enough’ attitude, you end up in a comfort zone. And you know where the magic happens."
