Centroid rejoins Tiga

Pinewood-based motion capture firm Centroid has once again joined industry association Tiga.

The studio has performed mocap duties on a number of games, including Mirror’s Edge, Guitar Hero and APB, and is owned by Traveller’s Tales.

The group first joined Tiga as an affiliate member back in August 2008 – though firm’s initial departure was not explained.

Two years ago, Centroid completed the construction of a purpose-built mocap stage at the world-famous movie production base Pinewood Studios.

The group says its facility is the largest motion capture stage in Europe.

Centroid has in recent years expanded its TV and film projects, having worked on films such as Bond flick Quantum of Solace, Harry Potter and Ridley Scott’s upcoming Robin Hood.

Centroid said it joined Tiga as part of its plan to network with more developers. The group’s operations director Phil Stilgoe said the group is “constantly looking for new partners and would encourage any UK developer to get in touch if they would like discuss the latest motion capture techniques or visit us at Pinewood and take a tour of the facility.”
