CEO change at CrowdStar

California-based casual games studio CrowdStar has undergone a change of management, with CEO Niren Hiro having stepped down from the position.

In an interview with VentureBeat, executive chairman Peter Relan said that the parting was amicable, and revealed that he would take over the now vacant top post.

“We agreed about our larger goals but not on the path to get there,” Relan said.

“We have different visions on how to scale the business and exploit the opportunities before us.”

Hiro leaves the company after less than a year in the CEO job, having originally taken over from Relan so the latter could pay more attention to his other role as executive chairman of YouWeb. It is now believed that Relan will scale down his YouWeb commitments to re-assume control of CrowdStar.

The firm remains the second biggest developer working on Facebook, behind the monolithic Zynga, with just over 47 million monthly users on titles like Happy Aquarium and Zoo Paradise.

CrowdStar is currently hiring for several new development positions.
