Charles Cecil joins BFI board

Revolution Software founder and MD Charles Cecil has joined the governing board for the British Film Institute.

Cecil is joined on the board by two other newcomers, Film veteran and former director of McKinsey & Co Pat Butler and Baroness King of Bow Oona King.

“We are very pleased to have three such talented individuals join our board,” said BFI chair Greg Dyke.

“They each bring a wealth of experience, from finance and management, politics and broadcasting, to the video games industry. With such a talented team the Board is well equipped to face the significant opportunities and challenges in the years to come in supporting the BFI’s growth agenda and international strategy for film.

“I’m also delighted to announce that Libby Savill who has served on the board for two years has agreed to become Deputy Chair of the BFI. Libby combines pragmatism with one of the best legal minds in the entertainment industries and she is a great asset to the board.”

In February it was announced that the government had appointed the BFI to administer the cultural test for games tax relief in a newly expanded certification unit.
