If there were any doubt selling your company to Microsoft has its benefits, they’re gone now.

Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, founder of Mojang and creator of Minecraft, has purchased a mansion in Beverly Hills for $70m. It is the highest price ever paid for a property in the notoriously expensive neighbourhood.

His new home covers 23,000 square feet and has eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a 24-seat cinema, wine cellar and a 16-car garage.

Best of all, Notch outbid the previous frontrunners for the property: popstars Beyoncé and Jay Z, according to the Daily Mail.

Back in September, Persson sold his company Mojang to Microsoft for an impressive $2.5bn, so there’s still plenty left for more lavish purchases.
