Crowdfunded project surpasses $3.5 million with less than two days to go

Chris Avellone joins InXile’s Torment dev team

Planescape lead designer Chris Avellone has joined InXile’s design team for Kickstarter project Torment: Tides of Numenera.

The addition of Avellone comes as the crowdfunded game surpasses $3.5 million, the stretch goal required for his services.

As well as working on Tides of Numenera, inspired by his own work on Planescape: Torment, Avellone has also been assisting with development on InXile’s other Kickstarter project Wasteland 2.

The designer has worked at a number of studios during his career, such as Interplay Entertainment, before founding Obsidian Entertainment in 2003, where he holds the position of chief creative officer.

At the time of writing, Tides of Numenera has hit more than $3.6 million in funding from 65,570 backers, far exceeding the project’s initial funding goal of $900,000.
