PixelActive adds multi-user support to urban world editor for version 1.6

CityScape landscape builder tool updated

PixelActive has launched version 1.6 of its CityScape tool, which the company pitches as a ‘high speed, intelligent world builder’.

The tool, designed to enable users to create complex urban worlds at ten times the speed allowed by traditional modelling solutions such as general 3D modelling packages, now allows for simultaneous multi-user input.

Other new features are also included, such as support for astrometrics, which enables accurate solar and lunar entities based on geography, time and date. Larger worlds can now be constructed using the tool, and various optimisations for faster performance have been made.

"For game developers, CityScape allows designers to get in their world sooner to test out design ideas and iterate, iterate, iterate," said Steve Rotenberg, PixelActive’s CEO. "But serious game and simulation developers can also benefit from CityScape’s support for importing GIS data, allowing geospecific modelling of real world locations."

Currently CityScape has been used by several developers including Volition, which created the Red Faction and Saints row franchises.

A trial version of CityScape 1.6 can be downloaded from PixelActive’s website.
