Scottish casual game studio forges new deal for cartoon-based game in 2008

Cobra’s Dastardly plan for Japan

Just a week after announcing its opening and ambitious plans for a direct-to-consumer casual games portal, Dundee-based Cobra Mobile has revealed it is to make a Dastardly and Muttley game for the Japanese market.

Speaking to the Sunday Herald, founder Mark Ettle, said the company had devised a production method that helps it cut costs and increase the speed to market for its games – and sidestep publishers in the process.

The Dastardly and Muttley title will roll out in early 2008.

"We’ve implemented a fundamental change in the games publishing process that begins at the planning stage and continues right through to the way we reach the customer. It’s a bold strategy, but one we believe will allow us to make the leap from small development house to international player," he said.

"A lot of major companies with multi-million pound budgets have been working on developing this sort of approach, but we’ve beaten them to the punch."
