Codemasters breaks the bank with Grid 2 investment

Next year’s Grid 2 will represent the biggest investment British publisher Codemasters has ever made in a video game.

Codemasters announced the sequel to the BAFTA award-winning racer earlier this week, showing the games media new technology and advanced features that have been in development for almost five years.

It is one of Codemasters’ most ambitious projects in its 26-year history.

It’s our most expensive development to-date," said Codemasters’ executive producer Clive Moody.

A huge amount has been poured into it and this is a game that has been in pre-production for some considerable time. We know we absolutely have to get it right. It is the sequel to one of our most successful games at Codemasters, and it’s very important to the business. From my point-of-view it is really important that we raise the bar further and set a new standard for video games."

Grid 2 launches next year for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
