The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: The Lost chapters crowned champion of developer contest

Commando Kiwi wins Make Something Unreal

Commando Kiwi took home the gold at this weekend’s Make Something Unreal Live competition with, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: The Lost Chapters.

The four teams have been working since November to produce a game for iOS using Unreal Engine 3.

All games were based on titles from the Fighting Fantasy series of roleplaying books, authored by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone.

“Commando Kiwi really captured the essence of ‘The Warlock of Firetop Mountain’ with great gameplay and visuals,” said Livingstone.

“It’s remarkable what these student teams were able to produce working remotely for such a short period of time using UDK. We look forward to playing these games, and Steve and I are sure that Fighting Fantasy fans everywhere will really enjoy these new interactive experiences based on the books."

All four teams will have their games published through Appy Nation, but the victorious Commando Kiwi also recieved a full Unreal Engine 3 license, as well as a trip to AquaCity water park in Poprad, Slovakia.

“I’m just dead proud of my team. They’ve worked really hard and this competition has changed our lives forever,” said Jonny Robinson, Commando Kiwi’s producer and team captain.
