World of Mass Development raises over â?¬500k for first campaign

Crowdfunding platform offers returns on investment

Slightly Mad Studios has successfully launched its own crowdfunding platform, and has raised over €500,000 for its first project.

World of Mass Development was announced last October, offering potential backers a chance to become part of the team by participating in and getting paid for successful projects.

This collective investment model splits profits between the investors and the developers, with thirty per cent going to the studio.

Investors are given access to regular builds and forum access at lower levels, and at higher levels can attend meetings and view game scripts.

The first campaign, Project Cars, has raised half a million euros from investors, with an additional €1.5 million being contributed by the developer, Slightly Mad Studios.

Slightly Mad has developed several racing games in the past, shipping titles like Need for Speed: Shift, and BMW M3 Challenge, and Project Cars has gained a good deal of attention from media sites like Kotaku.
