Crystal Dynamics delays Tomb Raider deadline

California games studio Crystal Dynamics has been given about three additional months to develop its latest Tomb Raider game, the studio has announced.

Studio head Darrell Gallagher said he wanted the studio to “make the best game of our careers” with the series’ latest reboot, but called for more time to polish the title.

It is unknown under what conditions Crystal Dynamics was given a release date extension; be it missing certain milestones or given new development goals. Publisher Square Enix may also have considered removing the game from the congested Christmas release schedule.

“The additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game,” Gallagher said.
