Lara's latest adventure powered by BabelFlux's middleware

Crystal Dynamics licences NavPower

Crystal Dynamics has licenced BabelFlux’s NavPower for its latest title, Tomb Raider: Underworld.

NavPower is a pathfinding technology solution that features dynamic path planning, integrated visual debugging and support for multi-core systems and streaming.

"NavPower has allowed us to innovate with our AI based gameplay", said Sean Vesce, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics.

"Having support for flying, swimming, and wall crawling creatures out of the box really accelerates the game development."

BabelFlux CTO David Miles added: "We are pleased with the success that Crystal Dynamics has had using NavPower on Tomb Raider: Underworld. Features such as the 3-D dynamic obstacles really enhanced AI gameplay in some of their complex environments."
