Animation and performance capture firms contributing to Ninja Theory’s dark adventure

Cubic Motion and 3lateral working on Hellblade

Cubic Motion has revealed that is it collaborating with UK developer Ninja Theory, as well as animation firm 3lateral, on upcoming title Hellblade.

The company will be providing the game’s facial animation using its stereo head-mounted capture cameras and Qommotion tracking technology, according to a post on the Cubic Motion website.

Below you can watch Ninja Theory’s developer diary about creating the face of Senua, Hellblade’s troubled protagonist, with the help of Cubic Motion.

Hellblade is a dark fantasy adventure that explores the effects of trauma and mental illness as it follows Senua’s struggles after tragedy strikes her village.
