Irish developer to use Instinct Studio middleware

Dark Water partners with Instinct

Irish game developer Dark Water is to use its sister company’s Instinct Studio middleware for its first title, an online-only combat game called Dogfighter.

The game will mix a classic multiplayer game with web community features, tracking statistics, rankings and clans. Initially the title will be subscription-free, but an additional deluxe edition will release later in 2008.

“We are delighted to be working with Dark Water Studios,” said Dermot Gallagher, CTO of Instinct Technology.

“Dogfighter is a great fit for Instinct Studio right now considering the forthcoming release of our landscape and outdoor environment technologies. We’re also very excited about Dark Water’s plans for the online community – it’s a great idea, in effect extending the idea of social networking into the gaming world.”
