Vicious Cycle's PSP title receives inaugral videogame writing honour

Dead Head Fred wins WGA award

Dave Ellis and Adam Cogan, writers of Vicious Cycle’s Dead Head Fred, have won the Writers Guild of America’s first Videogame Writing Award.

The two writers received the award, beating out the competition of Crash of the Titans, The Simpsons Game, The Witcher and World in Conflict, which ‘spotlights quality work by videogame writers, raising their profiles, and validating their contributions to this rapidly maturing medium.’

Due to the inaugral nature of this year’s award, game scripts not written under WGA jurisdiction were eligible. It’s currently unknown whether this will remain the case next year, but if it does indeed change, it will be a confirmation of the rumours that the WGA aims to control the videogame writing space.
