MGM issues MMO developer a notice of termination; project potentially canned

Deal loss for Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment

Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has lost the licence for Stargate – which could spell the end for its MMO Stargate Worlds.

The company was issued a notice of termination by licence owners MGM Studios last week, according to Nerdvana.

The game was originally announced in 2006 but very little has been seen of it since 2009, when it was put on hold for the development of an FPS, Stargate Resistance – which has also yet to see release.

If MGM does not award the licence to another developer, the MMO is unlikely to ever see the light of day.
