Japanese social outfit increases presence in US with new studio acquisition

DeNA buys Astro Ape

Japanese social gaming outfit DeNA has acquired US studio Astro Ape only a week after picking up American development outfit Gameview, demonstrating the drive which which it is establishing a presence in the States.

Astro Ape is the firm behind a number of social titles for the iOS devices including its debut Office Heroes. Headed up by President Chieh Huang, Astro Ape is now set to develop titles for DeNA’s MiniNation mobile platform.

"Astro Ape Studios is truly excited to partner with one of the largest social gaming companies in the world,” stated Huang. “We look forward to expanding into Asia with the help of DeNA and to expanding MiniNation’s footprint here in the United States."
