Publisher expects Bungie's sci-fi shooter to be the best-selling new game IP in history

Destiny ‘Activision’s next billion dollar franchise’

Activision expects Bungie’s upcoming first-person action game Destiny to be its next billion dollar franchise, says CEO Bobby Kotick.

After posting $4.5 billion in revenues for the last year, on the back of sales from its flagship franchises Call of Duty and Skylanders, as well as other key IP including StarCraft and World of Warcraft, Activision is banking on Destiny to become the next big thing.

Speaking during an investors call, Kotick also said he expected the title to become "the best-selling new game IP in history".

Made by the creators of Microsoft’s system-selling series Halo, Bungie has signed a ten-year publishing deal with Activision for its sci-fi shooter Destiny.

The open-world game will feature multiplayer elements including co-op play and competitive multiplayer.

The title is expected to be released on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 9th later this year.
