Dev takes Duke Nukem to iPhone

Privately-held independent developer MachineWorks Northwest is porting the original Duke Nukem 3D game to Apple’s iPhone.

Headquartered in the US state of Oregon, MachineWorks Northwest has decided to undertake a wholesale port of the 1996 PC original, though has – according to an IGN report – made subtle graphical upgrades.

Working with the iPhone’s multi-touch interface has been a notable challenge for teams developing games on Apple’s smartphone.

The group’s solution has been to – like with its previous iPhone FPS Prey Invasion – apply virtual analogue sticks at the corner of the screen.

No firm release date has been set.
