Sound design day to feature talks from Rare, Zoe Mode, SCEE and DICE

Develop Audio track announced

Europe’s leading annual audio gathering will return for another year at the Develop Conference in Brighton this July.

Focused on a theme of ‘inspirational sound design’, the day will feature eight sessions, a keynote panel and an open mic debate, featuring representatives from DICE, Dolby, EA, Rare, SCEE and Zoe Mode.

Core to this year’s gathering is the idea that sound design for games should focus on creativity rather than technology; what to ‘leave out’ now that sound designers have everything at their fingertips; and how the future of audio in games will be more about ideas than technological advances.

“We are confident that this year’s track will spark an interesting dialogue as we discuss the future of sound with a keynote panel of audio luminaries from both games and movies,” said organiser John Broomhall.

“If that’s not enough, with the bulk of Europe’s videogames industry represented at this year’s conference, there will be networking opportunities a-plenty. So if you’re involved with sound, music and dialogue for games, or would like to be, the Develop Conference Audio Track really is the only place to be on 31 July.”

The audio day takes place on Thursday July 31st, with Audio-only passes available for £215, which also gives access to the expo floor. For more information and registration details, check out the Develop Conference website.
