Unreal Engine creator fends off illustrious competition for top prize

DEVELOP AWARDS: Epic named best Tools Provider

Epic Games has received the accolade for top Tools Provider at the Develop Industry Excellence Awards 2012.

The middleware and development giant beat other illustrious nominees such as Autodesk, Firelight Technologies, Hansoft, Havok, NaturalMotion, RAD Game Tools, Unity Technologies and xaitment to take home the prize.

“Wow what can I say, this is a great award” said Epic Games’ Mike Gamble.

“This is so amazing. Thank you everyone.”

As voted for by their peers, Epic has proven extremely popular in the industry for its cutting edge development platform Unreal Engine 3, which has powered a plethora of triple-A blockbusters such as Epic’s own Gears of War and Infinity Blade series, whilst it was also harnessed by BioWare for Mass Effect 3.

Epic will no doubt be high up in contention next year for Tools Provider prize and numerous other awards as developers continue to license Unreal Engine and the company moves forward with its next-generation platform Unreal Engine 4.
