Microsoft's Cambridge Research wins Technical Achievement accolade for work on camera controller

DEVELOP AWARDS: Kinect beats PlayStation Move

What’s better – PlayStation Move or Kinect?

According to a judging panel of 100 games development execs, the answer is Kinect.

The Microsoft camera technology and its creators at Microsoft Cambridge Research last week took home the Technical Innovation accolade at the Develop Awards.

Kinect beat out a category bustling with recent hardware and software innovations: Havok Mobile, UE3 on mobiles, Razor for PS Vita, plus Sony’s PlayStation Move motion controller.

Microsoft was clearly chuffed with the win – the team that collected the award described a Develop Award win as ‘the Nobel price of games’.
