Animation studio's technical director Andrew Dayton to give insight into the Toy Story 3 creative process

Develop Conference: Pixar to keynote art track

Pixar Animation Studio’s technical director Andrew Dayton is to keynote the art track at July’s Develop Conference.

Dayton is set to deliver a fascinating insight into the world of the critically acclaimed company currently at work on this summer’s cinema release Toy Story 3. His keynote address promises to include animation tests, layout camera work, story reels, traditional artwork, and several examples of shading, modelling and effects.

Other speakers confirmed for the art track include David Hego, art director at Rocksteady Studios, who will lead a session titled ‘The Art Direction of Batman: Arkham Asylum’, and James Answer, senior artist at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, who is set to discuss ‘Pet Tricks – The Technical Art of EyePet’.

Other industry figures taking the stage as part of the art track include Stephen Venning, executive producer at The Mill, Geomerics founder and CEO Chris Doran and lead artist Ivan Pedersen, and Honeyslug CEO Ricky Haggett.

Develop takes place from July 13-15 at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton. Prices start at £265 for a one-day pass at the Early bird rate, which runs until 7 June.
