News for developers to follow the imminent iTablet announcement

Develop covering Apple conference tonight

Apple is ready to announce the newest gadget in its portfolio, and Develop will be here to break news on the new device.

Rumours of the Apple Tablet’s existence stretch as far back as last August.

Since then, speculation has been rife on what the device will actually be able to do. Will it be an e-book reader? A magazine reader? Will it play albums? Will it enable video conferencing? What about Flash-enabled web browsing?

And will it – as Develop reported – be a new game platform as well? It’s already thought that Zynga CEO Mark Pincus will be demoing a new Tablet version of Farmville with Steve Jobs tonight.

Knowing Apple’s fixation with convergence, it’s highly likely that many of the above will feature in the iPad. But what’s also likely is that the conference will still have a surprise or two up its sleeve.

Whichever way, Develop will be here tonight to cover the events as they unfold.
