September CodeWorks event to showcase leading UK studios

Developers gear up for All Stars event

Plans are building for the next Codeworks GameHorizon event Industry All-Stars, a series of inspirational talks from the makers of some of the most outstanding videogames produced in the UK.

Taking place from 1pm to 6pm on September 4th at the Sage Gateshead on the banks of the river Tyne, the event follows on from May’s successful Northern Exposure confernece and will be GameHorizon’s final event of 2007.

The afternoon event has been designed to be a positive celebration of the UK’s talented independent studios. Codeworks GameHorizon wants to ensure total relevancy for its speaker list, opting to use the shortlist for this year’s Develop Awards as a starting point. The organisation expects around 100 development staff to attend in order to discover how some of the most creative, commercial and critically successful games and businesses were built.

The event will be chaired by FreeStyleGames’ Chris Lee who will present the introduction and a talk about his studio.

"Independent development is a pretty good place right now," said Lee. "In terms of independent versus in-house, and UK versus the rest of the world, we’re actually punching well above our weight."
