The annual cumulative value of downloadable content will reach $6.4bn by 2014, the president of retailer Gamestop has said.
Tony Bartel said the global value of DLC today is about $3 billion, but that would more than double over the next three years.
Bartel’s comments come via a report commissioned as part of the upcoming Cloud Gaming USA event in San Jose.
The Gamestop boss will be speaking at the event along with a host of other industry liuminaries; Gaikai boss David Perry, EA creative boss Richard Hilleman, THQ CEO Brian Farrell, Atari founder Nolan Bushnel and execs from Microsoft Studios, Foundation 9 and more.
