Mattel board game gets console treatment and introduces new Xbox quiz peripheral

E3 2007: Scene It sees Microsoft battle Sony

Mattel’s Scene It DVD game is to be converted to Xbox, Microsoft announced at its E3 press conference in the US last night.

The game will be developed by original Scene It DVD game maker Screenlife Games and WXP – but in a shot fired squarely at Sony, developer Relentless, and their best-selling range of Buzz quiz games, the title is to be bundled with its own quiz-show style buzzer peripherals, called the ‘Big Button Controller’

While some may compare the products and say they’ve ‘Scene It’ all before, Microsoft is putting the full might of 360 behind the new quiz game which tests players’ movie knowledge via video clips – footage will be in HD and further question packs can be downloaded on Xbox Live Arcade.

The Scene It brand has sold over 10 million DVD board games sold across over 15 countries.

The Xbox version is called Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action and is set to launch at Christmas.

A movie quiz version of Buzz is expected to arrive this holiday season as well.
