E3 2011: This year's event attendance numbers up, next yearâ??s dates set

E3 2012 dates announced

The organisers of the E3 event in L.A. have closed out this year’s proceedings by dating the 2012 expo and releasing attendance figures for 2011.

E3 2012 will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 5th to 7th.

E3 2011 saw 46,800 people walk through its door, up on 2010’s 45,600. Over 200 exhibitors set up shop in the expo halls, with more than 120 companies contributing to the VIP Retailer program.

Attendees came from over 106 countries, in comparison to 90 in 2010. The 2011 event contributed $25m to the city of L.A.

"This year’s E3 propelled video games to the pinnacle of the entertainment world. The industry’s innovation, creativity, and excitement combined to show the world the ultimate entertainment experience,” says ESA CEO and president Michael D. Gallagher.

“The positive news generated by the event reached all parts of the world, and we are looking forward to building on this great momentum in 2012.”
