Teaser trailer offers glimpse at new future for popular franchise

E3 2013: EA revives Star Wars Battlefront

EA is reviving the popular Star Wars Battlefront IP, it has revealed during its E3 conference.

Showcasing a small teaser trailer, EA said the new game in the series would be developed by Battlefield studio EA DICE.

Little other information was given as the title is still deep in development, but the announcement is sure to please fans of the series who have been calling for a sequel in the strategy series for a number of years.

A third iteration in the series was expected to be released years ago, but development issues at UK studio Free Radical, which was working on the title, meant the game never saw launch.

But with EA’s new deal with Disney, in which it has exclusive rights to develop ‘core’ Star Wars related titles, EA has chosen to revive the franchise.
