Electronic Arts' studio based in the North West of England is to close.

EA closes Warrington studio

The closure will affect the jobs of around 50 developers – although all have been offered the chance to relocate their roles to EA’s current UK development HQ in Chertsey.

Explained spokesperson Tiffany Steckler: "It’s very much our genuine desire that everyone has the chance to take their job to our Chertsey or Guildford studios."

Steckler also explained that the motivating factor for the studio closure – exact details of which will be worked out as production winds down – was a creative one as EA UK Studios strives to unify and reinforce its development staff.

EA Warrington had most recently worked on Battlefield: Modern Combat.

It’s not the first shake-up EA UK has seen of late – just last week the publisher’s Geneva offices officially opened, with a number of key publishing staff making the move from the UK to the new Switzerland offices.
