Another company has thrown its weight behind Nintendo's Wii by forming a studio solely dedicated to developing games for the platform, as EA acquires Utah-based Headgate Studios.

The team will stay beased in Bountiful, Utah, and become EA Salt Lake. The development team at has worked with EA since 2000 on franchises such as Tiger Woods and Madden.

Vance Cook, CEO and founder of Headgate since its 1992 opening, will continue to lead the studio team as EP, reporting to Nick Earl, VP and GM of EA Redwood Shores/Maxis.

"Having worked with EA for the past six years, we know their teams share our work ethic, passion for creative excellence and commitment to quality. By joining EA, we are making official what we all already feel — that we are part of the EA family. We couldn’t be happier," said Cook.
