GM of Electronic Arts India says publisher is studying region for potential game studio

EA looking to open game studio in India

Electronic Arts is looking into the possibility of opening a new game studio in India, the general manager for EA in the region has revealed.

Speaking to Indian games site GameGuru at recent game showcase event EA Experience in South Mumbai, Ajay Khanna commented: "EA obviously has various global development studios. They look at various countries, where they set up studios. India clearly is one of the countries that is being studied for future potential to set up a studio."

He added: "As of now, we don’t have any firm plans, but when we do have, they will have an announcement."

EA does already have a base in the region – alongside its publishing offices for PC and console titles, it has a mobile studio focused testing and, more recently, developing mobile titles.

Khanna also said that, while the firm has a number of universally-appealing IPs, EA was looking to localise and tailor its content towards Indian tastes going forward.
